Last week I posted about a laptop hunt. I've decided to pocket the $1200 I got from my old laptop and use $70 of it to get an SSD (Crucial MX100 128GB) for the T61p. My, it flies now. The T42 on the left is now rockin' an SXGA 1400x1050 resolution screen instead of XGA @ 1024x768. \o/

I loved both my macbook airs but after I bought a chromebook for my wife I realized it get's 85 percent of the performance and functionality for 30 percent of the price. I will probably buy one for my next laptop.

I persuaded my friend to replace his netbook with a ThinkPad T60; found him one for $90. Similar, if not better specs than a Chromebook (albeit heavier), but more room for expandability and you can run an actual OS instead of a fancy browser!

Weight and battery life are key for me. I think we can all agree we spend a lot of time in the browser. For anything else I always have my desktop and I can always remote into it from the chromebook.
